How To Get Started:
- Post on our FaceBook page if interested and we'll get you set up, or....
- Come to our sign up event (held twice a year once in our Spring Season and once in our Fall season. Typically held around the third week of January and around the second week of July)
- Weekly drop-in darts at The Four Deuces on Taravel St. on most Saturday nights, Saturday Nights at the Deuces FaceBook page, $11 entry* includes a dollar for mystery out pot, open to any and all darts player - 7:00 signups, 7:30 tournament start time.
- If you already know what division you want to play out of, you can always look up that divisions schedule on our website and show up a half hour earlier then the game starts (@7:00 pm) and you can chat with the captain(s) to see if they need another team member for the current season. After Week 10, no new players can be added onto a team.
- Member fees are $25 a player/season and can be paid with cash, check or online on our website at signups. We play Wednesday Evenings at 7:30 pm.
Teams are 4 persons (minimum for a team), they must have a bar sponsor, there's a list of San Francisco Bars on on website at the bottom under the Information header. Before the bar is accepted into the league we will usually visit the bar and look at their dart set-up ensuring there is proper lighting of the board, the board is in decent shape, etc. The sponsor will pay a one time seasonal fee of $125, or $100 for each team over one team.
As a long time captain of many teams during my tenure with the SFDL, a perfect team is 4 people who show up every Wednesday all season long. That being said, it rarely happens, life happens, unexpected moments. It's even harder to make a team of all part-time players because it feels like your the scheduling manager every week... "OK, who can make the match this week?" So long story short, as a future captain, ask your players are you going to be a part-time or full-time player it will help with "captain frustration".
In some cases it can be advantageous to not make-up a match and play with the 3 people who did show up (this is bare minimum for an official match). You will have to forfeit a few games, and there may be a game or two when you have to play doubles with only one player and that player would have to "skip" the turn that they are missing a player for, thus the other team will be shooting back to back, we call this an Iron man leg, because you are the sole player for a doubles match. Although the solo player will lose the majority of these Iron man legs, its a great "bragging rights" moment if the Iron man wins the leg!
All being said about forming a dart team, the best teams realistically are a mix of full-timers and part-timers and you have 6 - 8 players on your team. And when "everyone" shows up on your team at once, you should come up with some sort of rotation to include all players. It's always good, as a captain to take your players feedback on how they perform in a game in order to place them in the game they think they can win! Not everyone likes to play ONLY cricket all season, or ONLY 301, unless they outright told you that. Be fair and your team will respect you as a captain.

So you want to be a Sponsor?!
What does it cost? The cost per team is $125 per season. We have two seasons per year. The cost of an additional team is $100.
How do I get a dart team? We like to see each bar organically develop their own team from within, aka their regulars! This way the team really has their "roots" in their home bar, you could run a dart tournament and for a prize, the top 6 people have a spot on your first dart team to represent your bar, pub or restaurant. You could also put a sign-up sheet near your dart board and have regulars sign up with their name & email address and when you get 5 start contacting them and let them all meet, throw some darts together and determine what level they want to participate in. You could also contact the us at

You can get rubber floor runners, backboards, chalk boards from your beer distributors for FREE (Their names appear on these products). Occasionally we have a stock of dart boards and a decent set of used darts that we donate.
Does the SFDL support it's sponsors? Yes, we do! For sponsors that have more then 1 dart board set-up, we will work your bar into our rotation of our special events, where we have an entire division show up on a Wednesday league night and have a longer format tournament. These sometimes draw as many as 20 more darters to the sponsor bar for the majority of the evening! Please don't hesitate to contact us with any issues, our board of directors are very responsive.
Can I speak with other sponsors? We encourage you to reach out to any of our current or past sponsors and let them tell you their experience(s).
